What is the Process Like?

Evaluation

Our team begins with a thorough evaluation of the patient’s medical/dental history and a clinical examination. Following the exam, we take X-rays and create a comprehensive treatment plan.

Surgical Placement

Implant posts are surgically placed into the jawbone while a patient is under local anesthesia. The post is topped with a temporary tooth so the patient is never without a tooth.

Osseointegration & Final Crown

The post integrates with the bone over several months. Once healed, the temporary tooth is removed and replaced with a permanent crown, bridge, or denture.

Who should I see about getting implants?

Implants are placed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, and general dentists with advanced training. Restoring an implant with a dental crown or denture is done by a general dentist or prosthodontist.

How long does a dental implant last?

The titanium post can remain secure for over two decades or even a lifetime with good gum health. The prosthetic tooth attached to it typically needs replacing once every 10 to 15 years due to normal wear from chewing.

Will my implant stand out in my mouth?

No. We select a prosthetic tooth that perfectly matches your natural teeth in size, shape, and color. Most likely, you will not even be able to feel the difference between your implant and your natural teeth once it heals.

Is everyone a good candidate?

You need adequate jawbone for the implant to fuse. Some patients require a bone grafting procedure first. If you have many teeth missing, you may be a better candidate for an implant-supported denture (Hybridge/All-on-4).

Why do adults lose teeth?
